Muhammad Sarfraz

Professor

    Kuwait University, Kuwait

    Muhammad Sarfraz is a distinguished computer scientist currently serving as Professor in the Department of Information Science at Kuwait University, where he has held multiple leadership positions since 2007, including Director of the MSIT program (2018-2019) and Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Studies (2013-2018). His academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Mathematics/Statistics from Government College Lahore (1977), followed by an M.Sc. in Mathematics from Punjab University (1979). He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Graphics from Brunel University, UK (1991), after completing an M.Sc. in Numerical Analysis at the same institution (1988). With a career spanning over four decades, Prof. Sarfraz has held academic positions across three continents. Prior to his current appointment, he served at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Saudi Arabia (1994-2008), progressing from Assistant to Full Professor.
    He has also held visiting positions at De Montfort University UK (1995-1998) and Lahore College for Women University (2017), while maintaining an adjunct professorship at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Pakistan since 2007. An internationally recognized scholar with 375+ publications, his research spans computer graphics, vision, machine learning, and intelligent systems. He has supervised 85+ graduate students and serves on editorial boards of prestigious journals. Prof. Sarfraz’s leadership extends to conference organization and professional societies, cementing his reputation as a leading figure in computational sciences.
