Dr. Khalil’s research on agent-based ubiquitous environments has particularly influenced smart systems development. Before his current leadership at JKU Linz, he contributed to Utrecht University’s Intelligent Systems Group (2001-2002) and directed the AgenCom project at Austria’s Software Competence Center Hagenberg (2000-2001). His scholarly impact extends through editorial leadership as Editor-in-Chief of five Q1-ranked journals and mentorship of 25+ PhD candidates. Recognized for interdisciplinary innovation, he actively collaborates with industry partners on IoT and edge computing implementations. His current projects examine ethical AI frameworks and sustainable cloud infrastructures, reflecting his commitment to socially responsible technology.
