Prof. Jalel Ben-Othman received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Computer Science from the University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6), France, in 1992 and 1994, respectively, and his Ph.D. from the University of Versailles, France, in 1998. He is currently a Full Professor at Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC), France, and a member of the LISSI laboratory. His research interests include wireless ad hoc and sensor networks, vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), Internet of Things (IoT), performance evaluation, and security in wireless networks.

He has received several awards, including the IEEE ComSoc IIN Technical Achievement Award (2024), the IEEE Communications Society Communication Software Technical Committee Recognition Award (2016), the IEEE Computer Society Meritorious Service Award (2016), the IEEE AHSN Exceptional Service and Contribution Award (2018), and the IEEE VEHCOM Fabio Neri Award (2018). He served as Chair of the IEEE Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks Technical Committee (2016–2018), as IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer (2015–2018), and as IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Distinguished Lecturer (July 2019–July 2023). He will serve as Technical Program Co-Chair of IEEE WCNC 2027 and IEEE ICC 2029 and serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IEEE Communications Letters, IEEE Network, and the IEEE Internet of Things Journal.
