Talk title: Toward a Holistic Approach to Smart and Sustainable Mobility

The rapid growth of urban populations demands a fundamental shift toward resilient, sustainable, and equitable mobility. This talk advocates for a Holistic Approach to Smart and Sustainable Mobility (SSM), moving beyond siloed technological interventions to a comprehensive, citizen-centric strategy that integrates various urban systems. A truly holistic approach places people at the center, utilizing digital technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), AI, and Big Data as enablers for integrated urban platforms. We will explore a framework for SSM, detailing its materialization through:

  1. Integrated Solutions for managing diverse transport modalities (e.g., MaaS, intelligent traffic systems) to optimize resource allocation.
  2. Sustainability and Resilience by integrating green initiatives (e.g., low-emission zones) to align with global goals.
  3. Citizen-Centric Governance that fosters participatory planning and uses real-time data to meet the needs of all residents.

Adopting this integrated, human-centric view allows cities to effectively transition to an SSM model that drives equitable growth and secures a resilient future.
